EW Howell Construction Group is the General Contractor for the 4-story, 83,000-square-foot Stony Brook University Tabler Quad New Residence Hall.

Construction consists of two residence towers – the West Wing and East Wing – with a 5,000-square-foot centralized Commons area including shallow foundations, load-bearing partitions, hollow-core precast concrete plank floors, and a full fit-out with new MEP systems. The Commons area will feature ample seating, kitchenette, and separate conference and seminar rooms. The ground floor of each Wing will feature pantries, while each upper floor will have its own study with visual display boards.

The new Stony Brook University Tabler Quad New Residence Hall will accommodate 310 beds, primarily designed for double occupancy, with separate single rooms designated for residential assistants (RAs). Additionally, the hall will feature 3-bedroom units equipped with in-unit cooking facilities. Bedrooms designated for individuals with disabilities will meet and exceed ADA requirements, ensuring enhanced accessibility for all residents.

The Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove Showroom project in Roslyn Heights, NY consisted of a new double-height reception/waiting area, a variety of showroom kitchen spaces designed to showcase different products and design styles, a dry-goods storage, and pantry space and an outdoor grill display for customers to peruse. A demonstration kitchen is also included, allowing for chef-led demonstrations and special events, as well as to provide customers with the opportunity to ask questions of the experts who use the appliances every day.

Located at 170 Mineola Avenue, this renovation created a spacious and cutting-edge oasis for consumers looking to purchase upscale kitchen appliances.

This 10,000-square-foot project was recognized as the Best Retail Renovation by Long Island Business News in 2023. The Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove Showroom was also recognized at the AIA Long Island Chapter’s 59th Annual Archi Awards for Commercial Mercantile Renovations and Additions.

The two landings on either side of the new Tappan Zee Bridge offer visitors access to the bike/walking path for pedestrians to enter the bridge and explore the six overlooks along their way. Each landing is unique in its design.

Both the Westchester and Rockland Landings are located less than a mile from the nearest downtown areas on their respective side. The Landings features a welcome center, outdoor pavilion, interactive displays, and public art. Restrooms are located in each welcome center, which also includes an interactive kiosk to learn more about local restaurants and attractions.

To accentuate the new landings, New York State Thruway Authority partnered with ArtsWestchester and the Arts Council of Rockland to commission artwork across the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge Path. The Public Art program includes five sculptures, four bicycle racks, and a mural, all by New York artists.

The pedestrian paths and scenic overlooks are open to the public.

Owned by the Simon Property Group, Walt Whitman Shops, Long Island’s premier shopping destination, has nearly 100 of the nation’s finest retailers, including Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Construction on Walt Whitman Shops was a large-scale project. The project consisted of a 100,000-square-foot expansion of the mall, including tenant reconfiguration within the existing mall and the structural reinforcement of existing mall structure to accommodate the expansion. Site/parking improvements included reconfigured parking, new lighting, new landscaping, and additional parking. The project was completed without disrupting normal business operations.

The expansion provided street-facing retail frontages, offering shoppers the welcoming experience of a quiet downtown stroll rather than the experience of navigating a crowded mall.

A new central plaza is marked by distinctive landscaping, and a new streetscape, including a statue of Whitman himself.

The parking was reconfigured, and spots were added to handle the increased number of visitors.

Opening in April 2005, the Stephen Starr Hudson Garden Grill sits in the heart of The New York Botanical Garden and serves as the Garden’s first full-service establishment. This restaurant spotlights the innovative flavors of New American cuisine as inspired by locally sourced, ethically produced ingredients from Hudson Valley farms and other regional producers.

The space offers beautiful views of the Garden with plenty of outdoor seating. With architecture by Bentel & Bentel, the space features low banquet seating, an expansive walnut-topped bar, and an open kitchen designed for exhibition cooking.
